Active in the late 19th century, William Morris was a leading figure in the British Arts and Crafts movement. He is best known as a designer for his distinctive wallpaper and textile patterns, which are still in production today. The intricate "Acanthus" pattern, created in the 1840s, features leaf ornamentation that almost gives a three dimensional effect.
