They are pretty stiff and stable which makes it easy to edge to edge and rail turns effortlessly , Because i like my boots firm to tight feeling when riding i have to speed lace them when i get to the top of mtn then when i walk off the mtn have to loosen them.Here's a interesting FYI i learned over the yrs, for awhile i was having an issue with the driver x boots not lasting more than a season, not because i don't take care of them (which every day i ride i take out the liners & my custom footbeds lace my boots back up to hold the shape and dry em) they had issues with the heel would separate not bad but enough to notice they wern't performing like they should have, my boots after 50-100 days look barley used.So i would send back the boots to Burton and get next years model which was great but after 3 yrs of this they sent me the same season boots so i couldn't return them , so i called Burton and asked why these boots aren't lasting me more than 1 season and they asked me how many days i ride , told them 75/100 and they say well the average person only puts in maybe 10/15 days a season and the boots would last them 5-8 yrs.I noticed every yr they improved the design lil by lil and now with lifetime replacement for the laces makes them even better
