Real World Tests: A rod of this stature is befitting a reel of the same, so I paired my ES70MLF with a Shimano Stella 3000FE spooled with six pound (6lb) Seaguar Tatsu fluorocarbon and took to one of our favorite finesse fishing lakes, Lake Berryessa, California, to put this rod through the paces
It's a good match for a fisherman who'd always be holding something else and has one free hand, as it has a stud for one hand opening (red arrow), a liner lock for one hand closing (blue arrow), and a seatbelt cutter (green arrow) which is brilliant for cutting braid by pulling it across its blade without the need to open the main blade
btw, biminis can be as low as 70% and thats not uncommon Well, the by far strongest knot for mono is the Aussie Plait, I customized it and created a terminal and a line-line version, it tests to 95-100% if done right, the art is gettin it tight enough, but not so tight that the strands cut each other for mono-braid only PR and splives take the win, FG is not nearly as strong and durable, everythin else, exept for bimini twist will fail at about 30% line strength when put under pressure for several hours, still ok for normal uses but you never know if you will have to fight a fish you didnt expect and push everythin to the absolute limits
I use this combo when Im fishing bank spots that look fishy when Im on the road
