Passengers could rest in sleeping cars and eat in dining cars decorated with chandeliers and leather banquettes as trains sped from city to city

which has sadly closed

this has the feel of a historical document

at the tender age of four

The hotel was damaged by German bombs in 1940 and eventually demolished in 1957/8

Holborn Restaurant, London 1913 1922 Passengers could rest in sleepingThe Holborn was a very grand restaurant in London, much favoured by high society in the early 20th century. The main dining room was the Grand Salon where lunch and dinner was served by waiters in formal dress. There was a smaller Grill Room and ladies could dine with their friends in a separate area.
