Necklace with Hand-Painted Gumnut Beads By the Women of Camel Camp Australian artist Liz DeLuca 50 cm x 62 cmThis necklace features hand painted gumnuts by the Aboriginal Women of Camel Camp from the Utopia region of Australia. These gumnuts have been painted black and decorated with a blue and pink dotted pattern. When we collected these unique beads, they still smelt of the smokey fire the women sat around as they painted these gumnuts. Australian jeweller, Christine Smalley created this neck piece by adding glass, wood and ceramic beads to accompany the
