It is here that this young boy until adulthood encounters adventures in boarding schools, in the Hungarian army under Nazism, as a prisoner of war, in hiding, and as a journalist. Emotionally and ethically exhausted, Balogh defects from this Communist country and flees illegally to London, England in 1965
