Ed Ruscha: Bow-Tie Rivet Catherine Grenier A member of the postwarEd Ruscha created Bow Tie Rivet in collaboration with Universal Limited Art Editions, New York, in 2003. It is from a series of prints titled Bow Tie Landscapes. Printed on heavyweight Somerset velvet paper, it depicts a mirrored image of Californias desert outcroppings overlaid with twin white rivet motifs, pointing inward. Their silhouetted shapes act as positive images, while the landscape behind forms a curious kind of negative space.
