Its design is a replica of the Coventry style sash which Louis Riel wore circa 1860. Coventry sashes were historically made near Coventry and Manchester in England and exported to Canada. They were sold by the Hudsons Bay Company. Coventry sashes were the most common sashes from 1850 to the early 1900s. RED: Represents the blood of the Mtis that
