Livinig Uncle Charlie's Dream Poppelau and to growWilliam G McMillan was born in Hale County Alabama on November 20, 1931. He grew up on a cotton farm in the community of Mt Herman. He graduated from Greensboro High School in 1949 at age 17. He had joined the Alabama National Guard on his 17th birthday. He had picked up the nickname of Ungy because of his reddish blond hair. He enlisted in the US Air Force in August of 1950 at the beginning of the Korean War. Most of his service was in the SAC
