I composed a scene that combined the last of New England fall foliage with the snow and ice of the approaching winter

Because the galaxy is somewhat mysterious

In spite of strong wind gusts and a light dusting of snow

so I pulled off the highway and found this vantage point as the glowing clouds wrapped around Mount Adams

Taughannock Falls was no exception, and I was excited to visit when the conditions were just right. The temperature of moving water can live below freezing, creating this incredible phenomenon where a shield of ice can form around the falls. There is something so surreal about looking at a static scene while listening to the water
