Each earring has an antique painted porcelain miniature in a new 14 karat yellow gold frame, suspended from a new 14 karat yellow gold earwire. One circular miniature depicts the portrait of Emperor Napoleon. The other oval miniature depicts the portrait of Empress Josephine. The miniatures date from early in the nineteenth century.
