Kumu Divination Mask From The D.R. Congo midcentury It is one of twoKumu mask hand crafted divination mask from the Democratic Republic Of Congo. Believed to be from around 1900 1940s. Kumu masks are very important in Kumu culture. Used by the Nkunda society of sorcerers who use them to summon the ancient ancestors. The use of hallucinogens was a part of these ceremonies & while in a state of trance they would receive revelations. These ceremony's served the Kumu as an important act of divination.
